Job Summary

AECOM have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director or Principal level Mechanical Engineer to join our Buildings + Places building services team in Adelaide. The role is ideal for someone with strong technical background and an interest in developing detailed design solutions and being responsible for the delivery of a range of exciting building services projects. The projects span a diverse range of the construction sector including Defence, Health, Commercial, Hospitality, High-Reliability Data Centres, and Retail. The Principal Mechanical Engineer is part of the Building Services team which plans, manages and ensures delivery of the mechanical engineering aspects for projects within budgets and time lines. Responsibilities include the design and delivery of mechanical project work and developing and enhancing relationships with the client, as well as staff.

Minimum Requirements

As an Associate / Principal Mechanical Engineer you will:

  • Undertake Mechanical engineering design from concept through detailed design phases

  • Client interaction at project level in delivery of design and documentation

  • Manage project stakeholder engagement and project brief confirmation and sign off

  • Coordinate the Mechanical spatials and reticulation with the building services, architecture and structural design

  • Act as lead building services Project Manager for the project team

  • Be responsible for delivery of the Mechanical scope, in adherence to project quality systems, program and budgets

  • Managing the hours and budget for members of the Mechanical discipline team

  • Undertake site inspections and prepare memoranda of inspection

  • Be an active member of the Mechanical engineering team and contribute to the team’s success

  • Manage, train and mentor junior team members

  • Be responsible for managing your own time utilisation and revenue targets

Preferred Qualifications

Ideally you will have:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)

  • Professional registration such as CPEng is advantageous

  • Previous experience managing projects and budgets to meet time and resource requirements

  • Strong capability in assessing level of engineering input as appropriate for contract packaging

  • Competent in the use of systems such as Project Management tools

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in working in and managing multi-disciplinary project teams.

  • Ability to achieve and maintain high levels of quality and consistency of outputs
