AECOM are currently seeking a Site Architect to join our UAE business.
- Reports to the Resident Engineer/Manager on site. Oversees, reviews contractors detailed designs, shop drawings, manages and monitors implementation of the construction documents on site. Responsible to manage teams of discipline Inspectors on site. Supports the RE /Senior RE/TM on Technical issues and liaises with the design office, contractor and client counterpart to ensure that the construction is carried out in accordance with plans and specifications.
Researches, plans, designs, and administers building projects, applying knowledge of design, construction procedures, authority requirements, zoning and building codes, and building materials and design specifications; prepares architectural details as and when required for the execution of works.
Reviewing documents in various phases for design intent, materials use and compliance with specifications.
Reviewing contractors’ shop drawings, materials, and detailing submitted for approval.
Coordinating with owner’s consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies as necessary in meetings, drawings and other forms of communication.
Addresses modifications desired by the Client in co-ordination with the Design Architect.
Preparation of regular weekly and monthly reports and status updates.
Proposing improved solutions on technical issues influencing design.
Communicating with governmental agencies or officials for purpose of approvals and permits.
Ability to see design work through to construction phase and completion.
Inspecting and supervising the inspection of construction while in progress and upon completion for adherence to plans and specifications.
Advising contractors on the interpretation of plans and specifications; approving minor design changes in the course of construction.
Supporting the Resident Engineer/Senior RE in relevant duties as and when required.
Completing assignments with considerable independence in accordance with project objectives, professional standards, and policies and procedures.
Assists the Project Lead in review and selection of architectural materials that are in compliance with approved material submittals. Issues all architectural correspondences.
Highlights any violations to architectural related issues on site through issuance of NCRS
Attends progress review meetings and co-ordination meetings to assist the Project Lead in resolving any site issues such as discrepancies in project’s drawings.
Participates in the co-ordination and monitoring of snagging and project handover.
Provide support to Project Manager/team leader to ensure projects run smoothly in areas of architecture by providing expert knowledge and advice.
Liaises with the Design Architect on modifications required.
Gives daily site reports and highlights issues that arise on site to the Project Lead.
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture.
An advanced post-graduate degree and membership from a recognized institution (i.e. AIA or RIBA) would be a plus
LEED GA or AP/ ESTIDAMA PQP certifications preferred
Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment employed in building and facilities construction and maintenance in the field of structural architecture as related to public buildings and facilities.
Experience in large scale projects.
Familiar with researching, preparing and presenting technical presentations and reports.
Ability to express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
Excellent computer/software skills.
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Min 10 years of experience out of which 3-5 years site based experience.
1-2 years of Design experience will be a plus
Prior experience on mixed use developments/High Rise preferred
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture.
