Job Summary

AECOM are currently seeking to hire an experienced Contracts Manager,to be based in Abu Dhabi.

The Contracts Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the requirements of the Contract documents are implemented and maintained throughout the Contract period. The Contracts Manager will also be responsible for the review of contractual claims and providing contractual advise to the Cost Estimation and Project Control teams in respect of the evaluation of interim and final payments certificates, variations and reporting. The Contracts Manager will also provide Contractual advice, support and information to Project Managers as required.

The position will require interaction with relevant Clients and Contractors in respect of all contractual matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists Senior Contract Manager, as required, in the administration of the procurement process including, but not limited to, advance review of construction plans and specifications, assistance in preparation of solicitations, coordinating and scheduling pre-bid and post bid clarification meetings, amendment preparation and contract negotiations for Contract Manager Approval.

  • Assists Senior Contract Manager, as required, to develop and implement procedures for contract management and administration in compliance with company policy. As appropriate, contribute to or influence company policies

  • Drafts commercial terms for design, engineering and/or construction services for approval by the Senior Contracts Manager.

  • Review all contract documents (including solicitation) to ensure congruity and to minimize patent and latent ambiguities.

  • Assists Senior Contract manager, as required, with administration of on-going Contracts, including monitoring contractor and compliance with the Contract documents. Investigates problems and recommends corrective action.

  • Prepares correspondence and maintains records necessary to ensure the effective administration of all Contractual matters.

  • As required provide guidance on contract matters to Project Managers or other project staff

  • As requested by the Senior Contracts Manager, assist the Engineering representative and or his delegated assistant in contract change negotiations and claim analysis and resolution.

  • Assists the Project Manager in contract close-out procedures to ensure that all terms and conditions of contracts have been complied with prior to final payment to contractor.

  • Make amendments to contractual documents as required.

  • Prepare for final approval pre-qualification and selection of contractors

  • Prepare for final approval tender negotiations

  • Ensure that all contractual procedures are implemented and maintained

  • Advise on all contractual matters

Minimum Requirements

  • 10 years of post-graduate work experience

  • Effective oral and written communication skills is required and the Contracts Manager must be able to effectively communicate with all members of the project team, and be client and contractor facing.

  • Experience in a construction office is preferred.

  • Conversant with Standard Methods of Measurement (SMM7, CESSEM 3, POMI, etc.)

  • Conversant with FIDIC Forms of Contract.

  • Conversant with regulatory, legislative and industrial changes to review if changes are needed to contracts,

  • Must be able to operate under a degree of autonomy with direction from the Senior Contracts Manager.

  • Must be able to directly negotiate Contractual matters with the Contractors, for the Senior Contracts Managers final approval.

  • Must have a proven track record in major projects and programs.

  • KPI’s must be achieved every month to avoid penalties to Construction Manager

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, Quantity Surveying or business related field.

Professional Membership such as RICS, and training in contract, construction, and commercial law are preferred.
