Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Technical Writer to support the US Army PM Mission Command's Common Software program in Aberdeen, MD (office is located in Joppa, MD) . The selected candidate will design, assemble, and present presentation exhibits in both electronic and traditional media. Includes preparation of brochures and briefing materials, event coordination, preparation and layout of materials and presentation briefing.

Essential Responsibilities:

1) Interface with technical professionals in the writing, editing, and publication of various types of documents such as specifications, Standard Operating Procedures, manuals, reports, plans, training material and presentations.

2) Research a variety of assigned topics and develop writing plans and outlines.

3) Assist in the development of supporting materials (illustrations, tables, etc.).

4) Track and monitors flow of all documents from inception to distribution of final copies. Identifies and correct problem areas as they arise.

5) Provide quality assurance check for all document deliverables.

6) Participate regularly in department and company-wide proposal writing projects. May serve as proposal coordinator for large production efforts.

7) Utilizes appropriate computer software for document test production. Investigates and implement best ways to product documentation electronically.

8) Provides technical writing/editing support to other Company contracts when workloads permit.

9) Establish and maintain electronic and/or hardcopy data library of documents and work order files for documents received for processing.

10) Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelors degree in Library Science and 2 years of job-related experience or equivalent.

Requires operating application software including word-process and spread sheet programs.

Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Two (2) years of demonstrable professional experience in Technical Writing and Editing

Must be willing to work extra hours as required

Must be willing to travel

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizational skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Experience with Acrobat Pro, or other graphics software

Experience with HTML and XML
